Lightweight concrete guitars

Story

Introduction

Hi, I'm Dr. Martin Hengstermann, an engineer and luthier from Leipzig, Germany. I am the inventor of these new electric guitars. You probably have some questions when you read the words "concrete guitar": Isn't it too heavy? Will it break if you drop it? Does it sound good? We want to give you the answers to these questions.

Concrete and carbon fibers...why?

Wood is a great material for instruments. But after years of research, we have found an even better material. Our lightweight concrete is reinforced with carbon fibres in two fibre directions (0°, 90°) and the material is also extremely homogeneous compared to 'grown' wood with only one skewed fibre direction. This, and the higher density of the concrete combined with the ultra-high stiffness of the carbon fibres, allows for the highest sustain and vibration. This is pure physics. You have to test it!
Each guitar body is meticulously hand-cast and unique in appearance, including an individual grain structure on the back. Your guitar is one of a kind.

General facts

How much does the guitar weigh?

A standard electric guitar weighs between 2.5 and 5 kg. Click here for more information: Link. Our guitar weighs about 3.4 kg (= 7.5 lbs). Amazing, right?

If the guitar falls down, what happens?
